SIGNATURE HOLE ANALYSIS
With the invention of electronic detonators, signature hole analysis has become more popular. It is used to determine what timing is best between holes, rows and decks, taking into account the local geology. By determining the optimum firing sequences, it can help reduce PPV levels, increase frequencies and improve fragmentation.
A signature hole analysis uses a single hole with a pure waveform signature to predict blast-induced vibration. Using a specialized program, the “signature hole” waveform is superimposed, essentially assuming the signature waveform will be the resulting waveform from each hole in the blast.
The latest technology in seismographs, allows IGS to shoot the signature hole with the production blast. Traditionally, a signature hole is shot before the production blast, which means altering the blast pattern to clean up the face.
